Why does your firm have a CPA?
A Certified Public Accountant or CPA is a tax professional that has demonstrated their proficiency in a variety of different topics involving tax matters. They have passed the Uniform CPA examination consisting of the following:
- Auditing and Attestation
- Business Environment and Concepts
- Financial Accounting and Reporting
- Regulation
Why do we have a CPA on staff at Old Mission Investment Company? Investment and financial relationships generally involve tax matters. Investments carry different tax structures and considerations for each client. While we do not prepare a individual client's tax returns, we are expected to provide advice and counsel on a variety of different investment-related topics. We work closely with your tax counsel to ensure that your tax plan is fully integrated with your wealth management plan. As the tax environment changes over time and becomes more complex, we are equipped to answer and address many questions and concerns involving investment-related tax matters.
The Michigan Board of Accountancy requires CPA certificants to fulfill 40 hours of continuing education requirements on an annual basis. Areas of focus include Business, Economics, Business Law, Finance, and Professional Ethics.
